"Hello everybody, good evening. Thanks very much for coming! My name's Mike Scott, the best band in the
world is standing around there somewhere, they'll be out in a minute. It's a very long and very varied
show, so I hope you don't have to catch any buses or go anywhere else, If you'd anything else planned
this evening - forget it! Alright...", cue a big applause! The near oriental sounding O Carolan's Welcome
begins...

It is indeed a very varied programme : encompassing rock, soul, Celtic Soul, country, folk, covers of
songs by Dylan, Van Morrison and Hank Williams and more...

Volume 1? Yes, a volume 2 will follow soon. The main aim of this volume was to pick a 'best' version of
each track performed in the higher quality recordings of the 1989 tour. I found that despite the herculean
nature of this task, I found no tracks to be natural 'outtakes'...if anything it was a couple of the hits
that seemed weaker to me at first (I should point out, ones that had never been my biggest favourites),
and even they started going through my head afterwards, as I was hearing them in a new light!

Speed correction was carried out on the Nijmegen and Valencia recordings as both ran a little too slow
and minor mixing - largely to achieve a little more commonality of sound - was carried out in Audacity.
The final track, On My Way To Heaven is the exception to the 'ex' quality rating, but it's a nice one to
end on nonetheless.

Set some time aside and bask in this presentation of a mix of modern and traditional sounds, it
has entertained me a lot, and hopefully it will you, too...

Thank you to everyone who made this possible, the tapers, those who shared the recordings, and most of
all to The Waterboys!

Once more a very varied programme : encompassing rock, soul, Celtic Soul, country, folk, covers of
songs by Dylan, Van Morrison and Hank Williams and more...

I had slightly different aims with this volume than with volume 1 : to collect different performances of
some tracks featured on Volume 1. Many of the performances featured on CD 1 of this Volume appear on
Volume 1 in *slightly* better quality, however there were some performances made Volume 1 due to being
a superior performance, just as the New York tracks on here may well be considered by many to be
better performances than the equivalents on Volume 1, albeit of slightly lesser sound quality.
The bottom line is I still rate CD 1 as being comprised of EX quality recordings. Both Whole of the Moon
and Fisherman's Blues from the 8th November performance are slightly edited...the former due to Mike
halting the track for some reason, and the latter due to the recording fading in after the start of the
track. The high audio quality alone made them worth featuring, I felt.

I elected to put the songs that were less performed on the other dates that have been shared on CD 2.
These tracks - largely from the Portsmouth and Dublin dates - are largely of a lower sound quality, so
putting them all together made sense, particularl
