Ten tijde van de Balkanoorlog vertrekt een groep idealistische acteurs naar Sarajevo om daar een toneelstuk op de voeren. Reeds lang voordat ze Sarajevo naderen raken ze echter al verzeild in oorlogssituaties die de voortgang danig bemoeilijken. Ondertussen probeert een al wat oudere regisseur een Europese co-productie te maken, maar het publiek is alleen maar geïnteresseerd in grote hollywoodfilms.
