Description :

The first television show of the popular German-Greek singer Vicky Leandros "Ich bin" was first 
shown on 28 September 1970 on German television and subsequently broadcast in 13 European 
countries. The Pop Experiment anticipates the aesthetics of an early 80s video clip. The 
program has won numerous prizes for its originality and provocative modern graphics, including 
the famous Bronze Rose of Montreux .

Julien Clerc and Deep Purple were also guests of the show .

Now the program is considered a classic, in many ways innovative for its time, although at 
first not everyone accepted it due to the unusual, sometimes shocking video sequence, in an 
era when songs were mainly not accompanied by video for commercial purposes.

Interesting not only the experimental nature of the show using the revolutionary Blue Box 
technique for that time, but also the unusual cast of performers. Hardly anyone in our time 
took up the creation of a program in which Deep Purple and Vicky Leandros more or less 
harmoniously coexist.

This show also marks the first time Vicky uses the same stage name as her father, and 
has since performed as Vicky Leandros - she was known as Vicky in the 60s.

"Ich bin" is one of the first works by the WDR editor Rolf Spinrads (1942-1987), later known 
for the programs of Plattenküche, Bananas and Känguru.
