Stef tells Callie that Sarah was removed from the Olmstead family and she has a friend at the DA's office whom she's talking to about Liam. Mariana receives a call during dinner from Ana, who Mariana has been ignoring. Mariana tells her that she can't steal from her mothers, but Ana counters her by saying that she is her mother. Mariana ends the call.

At his piano lesson, Brandon's teacher tells him that needs to worry less on playing without messing up and more on his emotion while playing, and wants him to channel his pain while playing. Callie finds Wyatt at school and attempts to make small talk after their fight with Liam. He tells her that she should go talk to Brandon, insisting that they're close and he tells her that she might be a little too messed-up for him. Meanwhile, Talya gives Brandon tickets to one of his favorite bands that she bought before they broke up as an anniversary gift. She wants him to use them, but he refuses as he doesn't want to give her the wrong impression.

Lexi meets Jesus after school and asks if he wants to hang out. Jesus declines, without giving her an excuse. Mariana and Jesus go to Ana's house to tell her to leave Mariana alone. Ana is surprised to see Jesus and gives him an emotional hug. Once inside, Mariana tells Ana one last time that they can't give her any money and asks that she stops calling. Ana's boyfriend comes in, but doesn't care about Ana or the fact that her kids are there. After he leaves, Ana tells the two that she doesn't love him but can't leave. She tells them that she wants the money to buy a bus ticket to San Francisco, where she has a cousin. Mariana doesn't believe her, as the last time Ana asked for money, she was going to use it for rehab. Ana tries to get Jesus to say yes, but he sticks with his sister and says no.

While Stef and Mike are on duty, Stef notes that Mike looks terrible. Mike tells her that he's been working more to pay for Brandon's expensive piano lessons and is tired. They try to arrest a man that ran through a stop sign in a stolen car, but Mike allows him to escape. After a chase, Stef arrests him. Later, when Stef is talking to Brandon, Brandon admits that he knew that his father was drinking during the divorce and that he knows he is drinking again. He tells her that he didn't say anything because he didn't want her to stop him from seeing his father.

The next day in Brandon, Talya and Callie's algebra class, a boy puts on a video from Wyatt's house party after the teacher leaves the room. The video shows Talya drinking and taking her shirt off. Talya runs out of the room, and Brandon shuts the video off while Callie follows Talya. Callie tries to reassure her that everyone will forget about it in a day or two, but Talya ignores her.

Mike gets angry at Stef because of an earlier conversation with their boss. Mike thinks that Stef told their boss he was drinking again. Stef confronts Mike about his drinking, but instead of getting through to him, he walks away.

Brandon and Callie talk about Talya back at home, and Callie tells Brandon that he should cut Talya a break. She tells him that Talya drank at the party because she felt stupid for thinking that Callie liked Brandon, when she clearly liked Wyatt. When Brandon asks Callie if she believes that too, she distracts him and doesn't answer the question.

Lena meets her ex-girlfriend, Gretchen, over dinner at a nice restaurant. Stef is late, and Lena tells Gretchen about their kids. When Stef arrives, she is introduced to Gretchen. Lena feels ganged up by the two women when they talk about her and the fact that she is not comfortable with Stef's job as a police officer. She gets angry when Stef invites Gretchen to meet their kids the next night over dinner.

Jesus tells Mariana that she was right about Ana, and although they can't give her money, he wants to get her into a woman's shelter. Mariana refuses, saying that if they do that, she'll keep asking them for money and will make whatever excuses to get it. She makes Jesus promise not to go back to Ana's house and he promises. Lexi gets mad at Jesus for ignoring her and her calls. He tells her that he just has a lot on his mind. The next day, Jesus breaks his promise and goes back to Ana's house, alone.

Callie invites Wyatt out to see the movie for her photography class, but he says that he has a 'thing'. She tells him that he can join her if his 'thing' gets busy. She waits outside the theater for him, but goes in alone when he doesn't show up. During the movie, he shows up and the two make up while making fun of the movie they're watching.

When Gretchen comes over for dinner, Mariana admires her for all the celebrities she has met. Gretchen tells Stef a lot of things that Stef didn't know about Lena, and it is revealed that Stef and Lena aren't married even though Lena broke up with Gretchen because she wouldn't marry her. Mariana freaks out when she realizes that Jesus isn't where he said he would be, but doesn't want to tell their mothers. Dinner becomes awkward when Gretchen purposely keeps pushing about Lena's desire to get married, despite the fact that Stef doesn't want to get married again and didn't know that Lena wanted to. Lena and Stef argue about getting married after Gretchen leaves. Mariana interrupts and finally admits that she has been in contact with their birth mother and that Jesus is with her at the crack house that she lives in. Although Lena doesn't want her to go, Stef gets her gun and goes to get Jesus from Ana's house.

Brandon ends up taking Talya up on her offer of the tickets and they both go to the concert. Brandon tells her that he might be quitting the piano lessons, because their expense is putting a lot of pressure on his father. Talya convinces him to stick them out because she knows that it's his dream. Brandon ends up inviting Talya to get coffee, which she happily accepts.

Stef arrives at Ana's house. Mike arrives in his full-cop uniform, saying that Lena called him and asked him to be backup. After no one answers the door, the two go inside and see drugs laid out on the table. After going in, five gunshots can be heard from inside.
