Albinoni - Trio Sonatas, Op. 1 - Parnassi Musici
Being rather well acquainted with many of Albinoni's concertos, I eagerly purchased this very fine recording of twelve (12) of his four (4) movement "Trio Sonatas" Opus one (1). Members of the Parnassi musici play these lovely works' two (2) fast and two (2) slow movements brilliantly performing the fast movements with much vim and vigor and the slow movements are very stately and tender.
Written in the late 1600s, the works in this wonderful sounding CPO recording follow the usual forms of the day sounding, to me, close to Concerto Grossi and a lot like Corelli's music. Although according to the notes Tortelli and Vivaldi were more of an influence. Whoever did the influencing, these are truly lovely works with some of those beautiful stately and rather sad slow movements that Albinoni is known for.
