Derek and the Dominos was een blues-rock supergroep, actief in 1970 en 1971. De band was opgericht door Eric Clapton, met Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle en Jim Gordon, die Clapton kende van sessiemuzikantenwerk bij Delaney & Bonnie. Later voegde ook gitarist Duane Allman, van de Allman Brothers Band, zich bij de groep. De band heeft slechts één studioalbum uitgebracht, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, wat door critici gezien wordt als één van de beste werken van Clapton. Met de titeltrack Layla scoorde de band een wereldwijde hit. Voordat Duane Allman in oktober 1971 bij een verkeersongeluk om het leven kwam, heeft de band in mei 1971 nog enige tijd in de studio gezeten om een tweede album op te nemen. Na een ruzie tussen Eric Clapton en Jim Gordon in de studio was de band opgeheven.
