After her contemplative four-year absence, Nergaard reemerged from her pupa a fully-fledged jazz vocalist in the best and purest sense. Port of Call was meant as a homage to the jazz standard that she had come to realise has always been her greatest influence and the source of her musical passion. The album not only received the highest critical praise from across the globe, but also far exceeded expectations for sales from a jazz album.

Though At First Light, made the success of Port of Call look ordinary by comparison, this was still a huge step forward for Nergaard as a genuine jazz artist finding her true voice. Within a few months of release it went Platinum in Norway; record executives are convinced that it will repeat this success on its worldwide release.

The album is deftly sung - Nergaard's experience and vivacity show through strongly, her voice is worldly without cynicism, now unambiguously certain, now with a subtle complexity that, by contrast, is almost shocking. Yes, the accompaniment is accomplished, sharp, and unobtrusive.
