De Radio 538 Dancesmash is een wekelijks nominatie voor een nummer uit het dancegenre dat volgens Radio 538 een hit kan worden, volgens eenzelfde principe als de Alarmschijf.
 
In 1994 werd door onder anderen Wessel van Diepen de dancesmash bedacht. De dancesmash wordt een week lang extra vaak gedraaid en wordt ook na de verkiezing van een andere plaat tot dancesmash nog regelmatig gedraaid. Een dancesmash wordt regelmatig gekozen uit de tipparade. Het komt echter ook regelmatig voor dat een plaat nog niet in die lijst staat, of juist al een aantal weken in de top 40 is te vinden.
 
Een aantal keer per jaar wordt door de zender een cd uitgebracht onder de titel 538 Dance Smash (Hits) met een overzicht van dance(smash)hits van dat moment. De dancesmash bereikt meestal de top 40. Af en toe komt het voor dat een dancesmash daarentegen geen hit wordt.
 
De dancesmash bestaat inmiddels meer dan vijftien jaar. De volgende tien dancesmashes werden de grootste hits in de Nederlandse Top 40:
