Synopsis:

Decent fighting highlights this kung-fu flick from director Yuen Woo-Ping. Billed as a sequel to 
the popular 'Tai Chi Master', Tai Chi Boxer marks the debut performance from the talented 
Jacky Wu Jing in a film set in China at the end of the 19th century. Tai Chi master Yeung retires 
and goes into seclusion with his family. Ten years later Yeung's wayward son, Jacky (Wu Jing), 
takes an impromptu break from his studies and causes a commotion at the Dragon King 
festivities, attracting the attention of the beautiful, Westernised Rose (Christy Chung). 
Enchanted by her beauty, Jacky resolves to bring the stereotypically evil Englishman Smith 
(Darren Shahlavi) and his fellow opium smugglers to justice...

Inhoud:

Jackie is hevig verliefd op een meisje genaamd Rose, maar zij is al uitgehuwelijkt en haar 
verloofde toont duidelijk zijn onvrede over haar aandacht voor Jackie. Maar wanneer Jackie 
zich aansluit bij een ondergronds anti-corruptie verzet, die is opgericht door Rose en haar 
vrienden, komt hij steeds dichterbij zijn geliefde te staan en er ontstaat een liefdesrelatie. 
Tegelijkertijd komt het verzet een groot Brits smokkelnetwerk van opium op het spoor, 
wat een hevige strijd als gevolg heeft. Maar dat is niet alle tegenstand die Jackie krijgt, 
ook de verloofde van Rose wil zich graag bewijzen als geschikte man voor haar.
